DESIGN PROJECT 4 (CCM)
PROFESSOR RICARDO CASAS
MOVING LIGHT COLLECTION
Taking the work of contemporary artists and designers who work with light as inspiration, this collection was created with the aim of generating an interaction with the user based on simple mechanisms in minimal pieces that provide an experience of movement based on light.
CONSTELLATION LAMP
Fernanda Ordorica Bechelany
Just like the stars in the sky, the infinite configuration of light allows us to transform the environment in a subtle, almost poetic way, creating that intimate space that we can simultaneously share with others, in essence and tangibility.
Inspired by Michael Anastassiades’ String Lights, this piece invites the user to appropriate their space, playing with the light that surrounds it through a system of joints and interchangeable pieces of various sizes. The result is a ceiling or wall lamp that finds the balance between the excessive delimitation of space and the lack of it.
STICK FIGURE
Rafaela Aguilar Bostock
Steel lamp that, based on Keith Sonnier’s work, explores the abstract composition between line and point to generate aspects of unity, weight, balance, movement and tension.
Various compositions between line and point were created, looking for the one that best conveyed the idea of tension, from which a mechanism was generated to allow movement from top to bottom on an axis to turn the light on and off, maintaining a constant tension on the ropes.
LIGHTHOUSE LAMP
Vanessa Anaya Jácome
Luminaire inspired by the colors and lights used by Dan Flavin in his installations. Through acrylic screens of different colors, the user is invited to interact with them to create different environments using a rotating mechanism that helps to give different positions to the screens as well as change the intensity of light.
HALO LAMP
Daniela Espidio Flores
The relationship between the user and the light is the main objective of the lamp. The dynamism that it generates between the two, thanks to the rail mechanism that allows creating a continuous movement and ensuring that the user achieves the perfect amount of light for the environment.
So to make sense of the design, inspired by Artist Olafur Eliasson, the essential parts of the lamp were 3d printed, the entire structure is blue lacquered pine wood and the warm LED light.
CROSSING LAMP
Alessia Tatti Sobrino
Lamp made of metal and acrylic inspired by the geometric designs and light emphasis of Michael Anastassiades. An internal mechanism allows 16 line pattern combinations in the object’s faces.
The purpose was designing a sophisticated lamp that invites you to interact with it in order to improve a space..
DODE LAMP
Itzel Morales Gómez
Decorative luminaire inspired by Anthony McCall's concept of tangible light, ideal for harmonizing a home space.
Through the exploration of concepts, form and function, a table lamp was designed for its manufacture in sheet and 3D printing, with a mechanism included to adjust the light output of each face of the lamp.
