DESIGN PROJECT 2 (CCM)
IAN ORTEGA
ESPACIO CONCRETO
ACADEMY MENTION
Espacio Concreto is a collection of outdoor furnishing cast in concrete. The project emerges as part of a partnership with CEMEX, the project's formative partner.
The projects are inspired by Mexican architectural firms characterized by the use of simple geometries and discreet silhouettes; an honest design seeks to engage in a conversation with the setting in which it operates. Productora, Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, and JSa all share a vision of simplicity, unity and strategy; in addition, each office has its own distinctive style traits that translate into the proposals as a whole.
Following that same approach, our aim is to promote a dialogue between objects and their surroundings.
ENCUENTROS
Cristina Pizzuto, Emilio González, Ivette Elguea and Ximena Hernández
Encuentros is a project focused on creating a range of urban furniture cast in concrete that echoes with the philosophies of Tatiana Bilbao Estudio. It considers the environment, the user, and their needs, becoming a bridge between architecture and its human counterpart, keeping the hardness of concrete in balance with the inherent warmth of a place to rest.
MESETA
Adriana Arciniega, Cinthia García, Daphne Cortés and Mariana Villeda
The main objective is to generate concrete outdoor furniture for the architectural firm JSa. TheThe idea is to develop modular seating systems that are adaptable with the specific intention of being placed near the urban vegetation, without being dependent of it, complementing them with tree pots which follow the conceptual line of adaptability and resilience that the current process develops.
COROLA
Diego Sandoval, María Fernanda Maciel, Montserrat Hernández and Paola A. Fernández
This project intends to create a piece of outdoor furniture, produced in concrete, which design concept is inspired by the work from Tatiana Bilbao’s Studio. The creation process rotates around one main concept: space as a promoter for human interaction. Its representation is planned to be achieved by the repetition of a single base form in order to create diverse compositions.
PETAL BENCH
Alejandra Castro, Fernanda Garcilazo, Mariana Elisa Nava and Yunuen Vargas
This proposal is an urban furniture cast in concrete. This bench typology is inspired by JSa’s office philosophy, which is social interaction. The shape idea comes from the use of negative space. This represents the silhouette of a flower’s petal, which is related to the urban context.
BALANCÍN
Héctor Mendoza, Isabela Hallivis, María José Alvarez and Nicole Hernández
Our project consists of a concrete urban furniture piece, which keeps a coherent aesthetic with the architectural firm Productora. This proposal starts out from simple geometries to create playful facilities that intervene public spaces. It seeks to encourage interaction by promoting a sense of community, allowing the user to generate a personal experience, thus giving it their own use.
REFLEJO
Dora Montilla, Itzel Rivera, José Juárez and Mónica Kristel
Taking into consideration the simple language of the architecture office Productora and through the use of plain silhouettes, the creation of a discrete geometric volume is obtained. Trying to evoke a sculptural piece made out of concrete. The typology is a bench which intercedes and generates a space for contemplation, creating a dialogue of interpretation between the user and the environment.
