DESIGN PROSPECTIVE (CCM)
PROFESSOR JIMENA ACOSTA
PODCASTS
The students work is a collection of academic papers written by the students, and translated to an everyday language and to a podcast at Spotify.
These podcasts gather the subjects and questions about design’s history that lead the syllabus and our collective discussions during the semester. Some of these questions are, Do women designers have had the same acknowledgement as their male peers? Has the LGBTQ community been included and represented throughout design’s history? What stories have not been written and why?
We aim that with this informal format, that unpacks valuable content, these design stories can reach a wide audience.

In the first place we talk about one of the most relevant designers in history: Mies Van de Rhohe, his entire journey, his style and the way in which he managed to become a benchmark in the world of design. Second, we talk about the internet of things (IOT) and how it is entering into industrial design, examples of which are smart homes, smart objects, even smart cars such as TESLA.
