PRODUCT AND SYSTEM DESIGN 2 (CEM)
MOISÉS HERNÁNDEZ / RAFAEL SAN VICENTE
DRAWINGS FROM LOCKDOWN
BEST GROUP PROJECT
During the quarantine period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the students designed an artefact that could allow them to draw during home isolation, using homemade materials and digital programming devices that could be bought online. The resulting drawing is the reflection of their personal concerns of the world that we live in.
NO ESTÁN
Alan David Hernández
On my birthday, june 2, 2017, four people disappeared. Its families are still looking for them without any help. They are not the only ones, on average 16 people disappear daily in Mexico. With this I decided to create an electronic system that draws the faces of the disappeared ones; integrated by polleys and a modular central mounted on a drawing table, controlled by a software.
THE NEW NORMAL
Aida Gomez and Fabiola Sonck
The coronavirus pandemic came to change life as we know it, our projects, attitudes and the plans that we had for the future. Our project “The New Normal” is inspired to promote and provide an experience of serenity, allowing the user to relax in such unstable times and that are full of uncertainty, revealing the importance of mental and emotional health, especially during hard times. This project was designed and produced at home, to show that we can take advantage of the resources we have, creating something beautiful, with simple things.
BLURRED LINES
Karla Martínez and Andrés Chávez
With this project we are seeking to show how the information about COVID-19 is being manipulated by the media by generating a distortion of what is happening in reality. For this reason, we want to show this distortion through this machine that combines art and technology to generate awareness in people about what they receive every day.
TRANZA
Daniela Félix and Viridiana Lina
"He who does not tranza, does not avanza" is a saying that represents Mexican society and the acceptance of a culture where self-benefit takes precedence regardless of the consequences. With the help of a homemade portable machine, we created a drawing using sixty nine random straight lines; where each one of them symbolizes the average extortion complaints during each month of 2019 in Mexico City.
ELLA
Ana Roldán and Michelle Ramírez
This project artistically presents a new form of protest against the violence and impunity suffered by women in Mexico. The machine is a small cart that, using a microcontroller, traces a path to repeatedly print the word "Justice" on a canvas, generating a composition that forms the word "ELLA" (“SHE”); representing all of the women seeking justice.
MUSIGRAPHY
María Fernanda Segura and Juan Muciño
Musigraphy is an interactive tool to express feelings and emotions in this confinement stage, creating graphic representations through music. Withthis artifact you can represent fluidity and harmony according to the perception and sensations that it transmits. The user uses an application via Bluetooth to move the machine to the rhythm of the music.
