During this semester the students, divided in two groups, developed two furniture collections. Lagom, inspired by a Nordic ideology and aesthetics and Nigulha, inspired by a more traditional look.
LAGOM COLLECTION

Lagom is governed by the Nordic ideology that bears the same name, where each piece seeks to reinterpret the phrase not too much, not too little, just right. This translates into an aesthetic balance as a collection and as individual pieces, as well as in the development of its construction techniques. To guarantee its quality, the collection is based on ergonomic, commercial and productive considerations. This gives the furniture essential and functional qualities making it a collection of unique design pieces.
01 SERVICE TROLLEY
María José Alvarez Estrada
01 Service Trolley is a piece of furniture in wood of solid beech, belonging to the Lagom collection. Inspired by the contemporary Nordic style, the piece 01 is designed to the current Mexican residential context.
02 AUXILIARY TABLE
Héctor Mendoza Alvizo
02 Auxiliary table, it sober but high quality design easily adapts to home spaces such as living rooms or bedrooms and coexists in harmony with the rest of the furniture within them. Its versatility allows the user to perform diverse activities such as eating, working on a computer, reading a book or simply holding decorative objects.
03 SIDE TABLE WITH TRAY
Nicole Hernández Butt
03 Table with tray is an auxiliary table with a removable tray made of beech that belongs to the Lagom collection. It is inspired by the contemporary Nordic style and for the current Mexican context. Its clear and simple gestures allow it to be easily adapted to the different spaces in the home. Its small size gives it great versatility allowing the user to provide the use he wants, such as transporting food or simply holding decorative objects.
04 STORAGE UNIT
Emilio González González
04 Storage Unit is a side table from the Lagom collection. The table takes inspiration from the visual and formal language of the Nordic culture.
As the furniture is almost completely empty space, it respects the interior where it will be placed and coexists with the rest of the furniture, independent of its style and language. The voids also allow the user to appropriate the furniture and reinterpret its neutral language through the objects he decides to place inside, next to and on top of it.
05 MAGAZINE RACK
Verónica Arciniega Pérez
05 is a magazine rack made of beech wood from the Lagom collection. It allows the user to easily magazines or books that are so desired; it has a compartment at the bottom to store a larger number of magazines and at the base for placing the desired magazine/book to continue your reading.
06 SHELVING UNIT
Isabela Hallivis Artigas
06 Shelving unit is a piece of furniture made of beech belonging to the Lagom collection. The proposal stands out for its simplicity and its combination of form and function.
The design is governed by the principles of simplicity and mutability, it conveys a welcoming yet light feeling, air and freshness in contrast to stability. The furniture has a touch of cunning in its asymmetry, achieving a very harmonious visual composition, adapting to the domestic context in a timeless way.
07 COAT HANGER
Yunuen Vargas Barbosa
Coat hanger 07 is a coat hanger made of beech wood and belongs to the lagom collection. Inspired by the contemporary Nordic style, lagom is designed for the current Mexican residential context.
Its sober but high quality design easily adapts to home spaces such as living rooms or bedrooms and coexists in harmony with the rest of the furniture within them. Its versatility allows the user to perform diverse activities from hanging clothes to maintaining order, or simply holding decorative objects.
08 SPACE DIVIDER
Itzel Rivera Bahena
08 Space divider is made of beech wood from the Lagom collection. Inspired by the contemporary Nordic style, 08 Space Divider is designed for the current Mexican residential context. It is visually light and as it does not have continuous walls or direct contact with the ceiling, it allows light to flood the room and air to flow through it.
The "intuitive" design helps avoid the frustrations people often encounter with self-assembled furniture, and allows the defined space to vary according to the user's needs.
NIGULHA COLLECTION
Students: Dora Montilla, Ivette Elguea, Fernanda Maciel, Mariana Villeda, Ximena Hernández, Daphne Cortés, Alejandra Castro, Cristina Pizzuto and Paola Fernández.
Nigulha is a collection of interior furniture that takes pine wood as an essential raw material. The project seeks to build a story from the complementation of any area, being a fundamental piece in the environment. When inquiring into the expressions of everyday life with family and friends, the object becomes symbolically relevant and turns the space into a home.
SORAYA SPACE DIVIDER
Dora Lourdes Montilla Renteria
The “Soraya” screen combines the classic style with the elegance of the opulent through the exploration of harmonious compositions and the use of materials, such as the quarry that strikes a conversation between the function and the aesthetics of the base; the jute that exalts the Mexican and classic features of the collection.
EULALIA AUXILIARY TABLE
Ivette Elguea García del Camino
“Eulalia” is a side table that combines classic and contemporary elements, using the shape as an ornament. It seeks to connect spaces while being highly functional. It is made with high quality pine wood and a stained finish.
AMELIA STORAGE MODULE
Fernanda Maciel Gómez
The storage module for armchair "Amelia", made of pine wood, with pine colored inking and waxed in matt shades to protect the furniture. The symmetrical module achieves a visual and harmonic composition. It gives a warm and welcoming feeling AMELIA combines elegance and opulence.
ALONDRA TABLE SET
Mariana Alejandra Villeda Espinoza
“Alondra” is a set of nesting tables; useful and versatile, they can accentuate a room. Nesting tables are rhythmic: replicating a functional unit to be put away inside itself. The design's intention was to magnify the pillar pattern of the table's legs and showcase the visual rhythm.
ELISA TABLE WITH TRAY
Ximena Guadalupe Hernández Huerta
“Elisa” is a table with a tray which seeks that even when the tray is not in place, the table continues to be useful. It is inspired by the ornamental combination of venues such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, with contemporary elements. It seeks to generate a combination between opulence and classic style to generate a harmonious coexistence at home.
SILVIA AUXILIARY TABLE

“Silvia”is an auxiliary service table that seeks to bring a touch of opulence, comfort and warmth to homes. This piece is meant to be a home for books and magazines, which will encourage families to create memories through reading.
VICARIO MIRRORS
Alejandra Castro Morales
“Vicario” is a duo of tall mirrors that complement each other. Dualism is the main component of this piece. It makes a place look ample, give it brightness and prominence. The mirrors allow the user to admire and contemplate their individualism. Vicario is what highlights the walls and fills the spaces with light.
MATILDE COAT HANGER

“Matilde” is a versatile and decorative coat rack, while it allows the user to hang their jacket or hat after a long day, it also brightens up the space with its beautiful aesthetic.
INÉS MAGAZINE RACK
Paola Alessandra Fernández Ayala
"Inés" is a magazine rack which is intended to convey opulence through its refined shape and the stone material of the base. The contrast created by the quarry and the wood gives a striking and warm touch to any space. Finally, its design allows easy access to all reading material as well as presenting it in a visually attractive way.
