WOOD FURNITURE
This semester students got focused on studying and practicing with wood and by some experimentation with material they learned about process that can be applied to wooden furniture. The AHEC Design Awards call is taken as a reference brief, which this year covers furniture in American poplar and cherry-working, specifically, outdoor furniture and table base. Through an observation process, each student explored the formal, ergonomic and experience possibilities of their objects,managing to resolve details of manufacturing and assembly processes.
SEESAW CHAIR
Fernanda Ramírez
Seesaw Chair is a 100% poplar wood outdoor furniture. It is based on the observation of different users’ postures and takes inspiration from seesaw’s up and down motion. The design language of the object integrates taking into account anthropometric measurements and ergonomic parameters.
KURA ARMCHAIR
Ulises D. Gallegos
Kura armchair comes from the inspiration of the sakura tree. Madein a poplar and cherry combination, for outdoor use. Thanks to its ergonomic proportions, it offers comfort and rest for any user.
MOV ARMCHAIR
Valeria A. Morán Zavala
Mov-armchair is inspired by how animals settle on tree branches, allows users to sit on either side of the chair and adopt different postures since it doesn’t have a backrest, it’s seat has a form that allows resting the legs in lotus position.
SEAHORSE CHAIR

Seahorse is an outdoor furniture piece made entirely of poplar woodwhich objective is to provide comfort and relaxation through a set of tubular elements with ergonomic features. Inspired by the seahorse’s structure, whose segments progressively decrease along the limb, generating a delicate curve.
OBTUSE° CHAIR

Obtuse ° chair is a piece for outdoor use made of American poplar wood. It comes from the observation of the different postures that the user takes when sitting. The design is created from the 120 ° angle of one of Its armrests, which allows a greater range of mobility and comfort.
PEAK CHAIR

The peak chair is inspired by the leaves of aloe, with its peak shape, the material çzthat will be used will be American cherry wood and American poplar wood, which is sustainable and ecological as well as it will be joined by means of assemblies, soit is not necessary to use fittings and it will consist of 4 pieces.
LEAF STOOL

LEAF is an outdoors stool inspired by the length and flexibility of the leaves of the citronella plant, made entirely of american poplar wood. In a simple line with curvatures it achieves the necessary proportions to have a comfortable and ergonomic posture, offering the user a perfect resting seat.
PIDEV TABLE
Sofía García Real
Table base made for a glass surface patterned with American cherry wood. Its shape is continuous, giving the visual illusion of being made up of a single piece. Their assemblies are invisible, which gives more fluidity to the piece.
HOURGLASS TABLE
Diana García
Hourglass is a minimalist table base, inspired by the shape of the object for which it was named, it was assembled in a way that looks different depending on the viewer’s point of view. It is made of American Poplar and made up of few pieces which makes it highly manufacturable.
TWIN HOOP CHAIR

Twin Hoop Chair is a hanging chair for outdoor use, made of poplar and cherry wood. This project comes from the idea of creating an enjoyable experience for both children and adults. It is made up of simple shapes that allow comfort, functionality and relaxation outdoors. Its minimalist design makes it the perfect decorative piece.
REFLEC CHAIR

Reflec chair shows a peace throne useful for mental reflection and consciousness aiming to be a safe space for meditation and mental health. Ideal to be placed at outdoors environment and its structure allows you to place your body in different positions.
DEREVO TABLE
Mariana Pasillas
Derevo is a dining table base, inspired in the fish spine, it is made of poplar wood withconnections of cherry wood which generate contrast of tones. The design counts with a degradation in the curve which generate continuity and they have a space in the middle of the pieces for user rest.
WARDON CHAIR
Malry Denisse Fuentes Almanza
Outdoor furniture consisting of three equal modules that provide comfort and privacy to the user. The components can be rotated to allow the necessary curvature for anyone who uses it. Made with poplar and American cherry to generate a connection with nature and use sustainable materials that do not create a negative effect on the environment.
